FL Car Insurance: Recommended Coverages

Currently in Florida, you must make many decisions in order to purchase car insurance. First, you must choose to carry a Tort option on your policy. Find out the differences between Limited Tort and Full Tort.

In addition to selecting a Tort option, there are only three other required PA car insurance coverages: Bodily Injury Liability , Property Damage Liability , and Medical Expense Benefits . Of these coverages, only Medical Expense Benefits actually pays out money to you and your family if you, or someone covered by your policy, are injured in an accident. The other two required coverages pay money to the other driver or to the other person injured because you wer at fault for the accident.

The chart below shows the minimum required PA car insurance coverage compared to what our law firm recommends for minimum car insurance coverage. Our recommendations provide coverage that protects you and those covered under your insurance policy.

Purchasing only the minimum auto insurance coverages required by Florida law may save you a few dollars on your policy payment; but it could cost you thousands of dollars in terms of lost money if you, or someone covered by your insurance policy, are ever injured in an auto accident.

We know that automobile insurance coverage can be a financial burden for many households; however, if you are able to carry even higher amounts of insurance coverage than the minimums we recommend, we suggest that you do. You can change your insurance coverage options at any time. You don't have to wait until you renew your policy to change your chosen options.
